3rd Practice: The 2nd Inhibition
INTRO
We’ve talked about the 1st inhibition being judgment of one’s image. The 2nd inhibition to overcome in mirror meditation is fear of expression.
So today we’re going to embark upon a journey inside the body, an often unexplored frontier. We’ll do this via what I call the vocal channel, an energetic tube with a virtual anatomy that is associated with the power of the voice.
I won’t get into the specifics of that here as Transformational Voicework is its own topic of study. However, just know it relates to our expressive output often inhibited and shut down due to collective and personal traumas associated with the throat, voicebox, tongue, and sacral area.
Before we proceed, it is important to understand that this area of study may hold very deep trauma. If you feel it is too much for you, please honor that, and do the work necessary to return to it when you feel stronger within yourself. Not being able to do this practice doesn’t mean you can’t benefit from future practices. In fact, another practice may be just the thing that unlocks this one for you. But we must cultivate self-acceptance and proceed gently to proceed at all.
In this practice, we’ll be purifying this channel in order to be free of those inhibitions that get in the way of the mirror meditation work ahead. Being able to freely communicate with and express ourselves during mirror meditation is essential to uncovering and discovering the insights that await us. It will likely be readily apparent to you that this is not a one time practice, but something to do over and again when you feel the need. Each time will deepen your experience, freeing you more and more.
