Level 2 of The Mirror Meditation Project Has Begun!
Writing and recording to complete development of the next program in Mirror Meditation has begun! At the second level, we move from a basic awareness and acceptance of the image and begin to untangle our mistaken identity of image as source of self. In other words, we go deeper into the discovery that there is something else present…a mysterious onlooker. That presense is the witness and we cultivate its energy as an ally, that which in the past fell under the spell of conditioning (fear and judgment). We retrain it to see with eyes of love. In so doing, we become “the giver of grace” that we have until now sought outside ourselves.
God is like a mirror. The mirror never changes, but everybody who looks at it sees something different.
~Rabbi Harold Kushner
While at the first level, our main obstacle was judgment, at the second level, the main obstacle is identification. Identification isn’t something one breaks through overnight (though it can happen). Rather, this obstacle tends to be incredibly tenacious morphing into our next new improved concept or idea of self. Here we accept the truism that there is no time to waste and absolutely no point in rushing. If we cannot release our by now arthritic grip on the delusion, we will have a most difficult time progressing, because it isn’t by control that we progress but through surrender.
We work with answerable and, more importantly, unanswerable questions, getting comfortable with not knowing. We explore archetypes, and engage in practices meant to widen our perceptory field while remaining ever-rooted in the real. We also begin to tap into sacred texts as a means to awaken The Seer.
I am still unsure whether I will roll this out on Substack or elsewhere, but I will definitely keep you informed if you subscribe to The Mirror Meditation Project and begin your journey at the 1st level here, a prerequisite to advanced studies:
